Welcome to "The Greyhound Inmate Experience"
Celebrating 9 years and graduating over 900 greyhounds!
We invite you to spend a few minutes exploring our site to get better
acquainted and learn more about this all inspiring program that
touches the lives of so many people.
The Greyhound Inmate Experience is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) Michigan
volunteer
organization. Our purpose is to socialize, train, and care for retired greyhounds
in a prison environment and to educate the public of the redemptive qualities and
rehabilitative benefits of the program.
Every ten weeks twenty greyhounds are put into the care and
supervision of forty specially selected and trained incarcerated dog
handlers. As the greyhounds transition from racer to pet, people's
lives are also transformed.
This program touches the soul of everyone
connected to it. Learn more about our inspiration, our adoption
partners who find forever homes for our graduates and our Supportive
Friends who contribute on an on-going basis...we could not do
this without them!
Photo Gallery is Down!!!
We are sorry to say that with a server update at the end of the
year the move caused our gallery software if not compatiable with
the newer technology.
We are presntly working an alternativeto correct this problem and
we will keep you updated here.
Winter is here, and we hope
Covid 19 will be gone
soon!
We hope all is well with your families and friends. Thank You for
your support. We look forward to a vaccine in a few weeks so we may all resume our normal lives.
Lakeland Update
The prison has reported several new cases but is
still has a no visitors allowed policy. We have not been inside
Lakeland since February of this year. It will probably stay this
way for the balance of the year. We maintain close contact with
the handlers and staff to keep up with the program and it's daily
activities.
News Flash!!!
Well Gaye Ann and I finally decided we needed a
greyhound at home again since we aren't traveling as much since
the covid crisis. So we adopted Lynn from the last session and
couldn't be happier.

Lynn is now called Lyndie
The graduation for this session will be on January 21, 2021.
